One of the most extraordinary things about the indie community of makers and customers alike is their generous and giving hearts. Time and time again we see them pull together when something needs to be accomplished, and I have always felt that for me personally, one of my main purposes in this journey is to give back. So I am extending that to Indie Expo Canada as well, and I am very excited to be launching Paint It Forward, which is a platform dedicated to raising money and awareness for charitable organizations.
Our flagship fundraising effort will be a silent auction and I have selected Mount Sinai Marvelle Koffler Breast Centre as our first recipient. We are purchasing a Helmer storage unit from IKEA and our generous Indie brands are contributing holographic vinyl and holographic stickers to decorate it, and filling it with products and gift cards. A few of the donated items will be bundled into smaller auction items as well. All products will be on display near the check in tables in the lobby at the event on June 04 2017 at The Hyatt Regency, and the silent auction will begin at 12:00pm and end at 5:00pm. The auction winners will be announced, and must pay for and take their winnings with them that day. If the winner is unable to take a fully assembled Helmer with them, we will send them an IKEA gift card to get a new one right from IKEA, and supply them with new vinyls for it, and assist them with shipping the contents if needed. We will have a shipping station set up by the check in area in the lobby as well for anyone who prefers to ship their winnings or purchases home.
100% of the money from the silent auctions will be donated to Mount Sinai in Toronto.
I’d like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated for this amazing cause. You make this possible, and my heart is swelling.
